Finance specialist Chris brings wealth of experience

Shoosmiths has boosted its corporate team with the recruitment of partner Chris McClure.

He joins after 15 years at Blake Lapthorn, where he was head of asset finance, specialising in big ticket transactions mainly concerning aircraft and rail rolling stock.

At Shoosmiths Chris will be involved in driving forward the asset and project finance practice, and closely involved in further developing the corporate team’s client base.

McClure’s rail clients include Hitachi, Porterbrook Leasing Company, Stagecoach Group – including Stagecoach South Western Trains and East Midlands Trains – and Freightliner. 

He is currently working on two major rail projects:

• acting for Hitachi since 2007 in connection with the Department for Transport’s multi-£billion Inter City Express Project, where Hitachi is part of the preferred bidder consortium and will supply all of the trains for this project
• appointed by Stagecoach South Western Trains – which operates the South West Trains franchise – in connection with its proposed procurement of an additional fleet of trains

In aviation, McClure has recently advised Swiss International Air Lines, TUI Travel/First Choice Airways, National Air Traffic Services, and Rolls-Royce.

He also has detailed knowledge of IT, in particular advising on outsourcing transactions, acquisition of complex computer systems, and software development agreements. Here, clients have included Stagecoach South Western Trains and East Midlands Trains, National Air Traffic Services, and Capgemini.
