Discrimination claims
In addition to employment related discrimination claims we have a successful track record in handling discrimination claims made by members of the public against service providers and by students against educational establishments.
According to the Equality & Human Rights Commission there are 10 million people in the UK who have rights under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. If you provide a service to the public, or section of the public, then you have duties under the Act.
Service providers are obliged under the Act to provide appropriate training to their staff who may come into contact with customers with disabilities. We recommend that refresher training is provided annually to minimise the risk of claims.
Our aim is to work with you in order to understand your business and to provide advice and training where necessary to ensure that you comply with your regulatory requirements. However, if a claim is made against you we recognise that this is a sensitive issue for you and we will work with you to manage the possibility of adverse publicity whilst protecting your reputation and achieving a cost effective outcome.
We also have in-depth experience of dealing with other areas of discrimination such as race, nationality and gender.
