Who we support & how we support them
The Shoosmiths Foundation builds on our wider community investment programme, which includes office charity partnerships, employee volunteering, and pro bono legal services, with grants awarded to UK-registered charities that are working towards one or more of our strategic aims:
- advance social mobility in the legal sector and beyond
- help the UK move towards a carbon net zero future
- improve access to justice for individuals and communities.
Funding is only available during open application windows. Applications must be complete, specific to a defined project, and submitted by a UK-registered charity. Unsolicited requests outside of application windows are not considered.
Keeping our focus sharp
The foundation is committed to funding projects that deliver measurable and purposeful outcomes. That’s why we do not offer unrestricted or individual funding, and we are unable to consider incomplete submissions or multiple applications from the same organisation. We only accept applications within designated funding rounds, and will not fund unsolicited requests.
Each funding proposal must relate to a specific project with clearly defined aims, objectives and expected impact. This ensures our support goes directly to initiatives that reflect our values and strategic priorities, such as advancing access to justice, improving social mobility or supporting a net zero future. It also helps us maintain fairness, transparency and accountability in how we allocate grants.
