Chris Stanton is chief financial officer (CFO) at Shoosmiths and sits on the firm’s Board. He is responsible for the firm’s financial management and ensuring that all aspects of financial control are aligned with the firm's wider strategic objectives. This includes ensuring that the underlying financial support structures provide the business with the requisite MI and that those structures are organised as efficiently as possible.

He joined Shoosmiths in 2006, helping to drive the firm’s scale-up of systems, processes and reporting as the firm embarked on a path of rapid organic growth and development.

A chartered accountant, Chris trained and qualified with Deloitte & Touche in 1991, working with numerous UK and multinational clients over the next 12 years, including 2 years in Washington DC. He then progressed client-side, becoming FD of an AIM-listed media monitoring business before moving into professional services as FD of chartered surveyors Cluttons LLP.

Accordingly, Chris has built up considerable experience in practical and commercial financial management, including business process reviews, working capital management, due diligence investigations and negotiations with suppliers and lenders, in addition to project management and optimisation of profitability.
