Richard is a Principal Associate within Shoosmiths' Commercial Group.

Richard advises on a wide range of commercial and intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on IT and technology, brand marketing, mobility and sport.

Richard works with a broad spectrum of clients across a wide range of industry sectors, ranging from start-up businesses through to multinational companies and his recent work experience includes:

  • supporting a leading global sportswear brand with the legal elements of its sport and brand marketing activities.
  • supporting a major building society with a 'once-in-a-generation' material outsourcing of its digital estate.
  • supporting a front-running team in the ABB Formula E World Championship team with its transition from GEN2 to GEN3.
  • advising a recognised leader in next-generation powertrain solutions with a supply agreement into a world-leading provider of power solutions for marine application.

Richard has also spent time on secondment with a leading global OEM and its associated Formula E team, giving him a valuable insight into the dynamics of a high-performing team and business operating within a competitive sporting environment.

Having studied Modern History and Politics at Cardiff University, Richard completed his Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law.  Richard joined Shoosmiths upon qualification in 2014, having trained in-house within the fast-paced environment of a leading communications infrastructure and media services provider.
