Esse Ejere is an Associate in Shoosmiths’ Banking & Finance team, specialising in leveraged, venture and corporate lending transactions. She advises a wide range of clients, including banks, financial institutions, corporates and private equity sponsors, on complex debt finance matters across the UK.

Prior to joining Shoosmiths, she was one of four people selected for the inaugural joint training contract pioneered by Barclays. She trained jointly with Simmons & Simmons LLP and Barclays, spending one year with each organisation and gaining experience across Banking, Corporate, Competition, Intellectual Property and Employment. Esse qualified as a Solicitor and joined Shoosmiths in September 2025.

Key debt finance transactions during her training include:

• Advising on a £150 million cross-border acquisition finance deal involving multiple European jurisdictions.
• Supporting lender-side counsel on a £200 million real estate refinancing, coordinating with UK and US legal teams.
• Assisting on a £7.5 million regulated real estate facility for a high-net-worth individual secured against residential property.
