Associate
Jemma is an associate in Shoosmiths' planning team, based in Glasgow. She joined the firm in 2026, bringing experience from a previous role at a large Scottish firm. Jemma advises on all aspects of planning, environmental and licensing law.
Jemma has experience in acting for a broad range of clients in the public and private sector with her experience spanning over both contentious and non-contentious matters, including drafting and negotiating planning agreements as well as advising on planning enforcement, call-in applications and planning appeals. Jemma regularly advises on the planning aspects of real estate finance and large-scale lending transactions, including renewable developments, student accommodation developments, and hotel developments.
Jemma also has experience in advising on Scottish licensing law, dealing with liquor licensing applications as well as well as civic licensing applications. Jemma has provided advice to a broad range of clients from hotels, restaurants and public bodies. Jemma has experience in drafting licensing applications, providing strategic advice and appearing at Licensing Boards across Scotland.
Jemma has experience in providing Scottish environmental advice to clients from providing opinions on the impact of regulatory changes to business to the transfer of environmental permits.
