Restructuring lawyer guiding clients through complex transactions and challenges
I am an experienced restructuring and insolvency lawyer with a practical, solutions-focused approach. I guide clients through complex challenges and work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including insolvency practitioners, banks, asset-based lenders, private companies, and company directors. My advice spans all aspects of restructuring and insolvency.
I have extensive experience in complex corporate restructurings, including implementing Company Voluntary Arrangements, Restructuring Plans, and working on Schemes of Arrangement in the private and public sphere.
My insolvency practice covers both transactional and quasi-contentious matters. I regularly advise on acquisitions and disposals of distressed businesses, including pre-pack administration sales and accelerated M&A transactions. I focus on managing both legal and commercial aspects to deliver the best possible outcomes in challenging circumstances. I also advise insolvency practitioners on wider issues arising from their appointments—such as collections, property, employment, and regulatory matters—and have acted for both insolvency practitioners and former directors in claims arising from insolvency estates.
In addition, I support lenders on the validity and enforcement of security and help directors understand their duties during periods of financial distress. I have significant experience preparing and advising on insolvency-related court applications.
My experience includes playing a leading role in the contested Part 26A restructuring plan of Madagascar Oil Limited, acting Company side in a high-profile legal challenge to the CVA of a well-known high street retailer and the successful appeal of a CVA on behalf of a group of creditors. I advised administrators in the trading administrations of the Braintree Village outlet centre, coordinating real estate matters and supporting the high-value property sale. I also managed the administration of Allseas Global Project Logistics Limited, a cross-border freight forwarder, and previously acted for the administrators of ASA Resource Group, assisting with cross-border asset sales, creditor distributions, and the exit of the administration where the company returned to solvency. I have advised boards and directors facing liquidity challenges, including contingency planning and directors’ duties advice for a large online gift retailer through the festive trading period and have defended former directors of a consulting business in a £4 million TUV claim from officeholders.
