I am a Real Estate partner in Shoosmiths’ Corporate Division, working for our clients nationally and am based in Leeds.

I lead the Real Estate function across a wide range of corporate transactions and I primarily specialise in distressed real estate, real estate finance and corporate support.

I have acted for banks, building societies and lenders for over 20 years on transactions involving new funding, insolvency and special situations, and also provide strategic and transactional property advice to insolvency practitioners, receivers, boards of directors and individuals.

Before joining Shoosmiths in 2016, I worked at Addleshaw Goddard and built a national reputation for real estate finance, and distressed property.

I lead the corporate support function in Shoosmiths Leeds office, supporting solvent and insolvent transactions, restructurings, acquisitions, funding and disposals.

Examples of my recent work includes advising;

• PwC as administrators (and latterly as liquidators) of Wilko Limited, Wilkinson Hardware Stores Limited;
• FRP as administrators on the asset management and sale of Freeport Shopping Centre in Braintree;
• Hudd Student Living on the acquisition, funding, development and letting of 500+ student units out of administration;
• Hilco Capital on the funding and acquisition of Lakeland Limited;
• LHV Bank Limited on the cross-border acquisition and refinance of the FB Taverns portfolio;
• the directors of Tasty plc on specific property aspects of their successful Part 26A restructuring plan;
• interim directors and then Grant Thornton as administrators of The Crazy Bear Hotel Group;
• ETM Group on its acquisition of various premium bars and restaurants from the Maven Leisure Group (in administration);
• Teeside Green Energy Park Limited on its acquisition of Tansterne Biomass plant from GB Bio Ltd (in administration)

I’m a member of the Law Society of England & Wales and lead the Charity Committee in our Leeds office.
