Russ is a Partner and leads the Corporate Restructuring and Advisory Team in Birmingham. He joined in June 2025 having spent the previous decade as a Restructuring Partner in a major international law firm.

Russ specialises in all aspects of restructuring, finance and insolvency work, including contentious and non-contentious insolvency, acting for banks, asset based lenders, insolvency practitioners, corporates, directors and other key stakeholders.

He has vast experience in domestic and cross border restructuring and has worked on a number of high profile cross border mandates across the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

In particular, Russ specialises in advising corporate directors on their duties and turnaround options when a business is suffering from financial challenges or periods of distress. He also regularly advises buyers and sellers on business and asset sales and acquisitions.

His recent experience includes:

• Advising the directors of  Red Funnel Ferries, which has operated the Isle of Wight ferry for 164 years, in respect of the company's takeover by Njord Partners; and
• Advising the directors of HSS The Hire Company, in respect of the company's sale to Endless LLP;
