Shoosmiths has advised the shareholders and management of Blitz Hire (Blitz) on BGF’s investment into Blitz, in a deal that further strengthens the firm’s track record advising businesses and investors across the UK’s film, television and entertainment sector.

Published: 5 October 2026

Completed on 30 September 2026, the firm advised the shareholders and management on all aspects of the transaction, including corporate, banking, tax, employment and real estate.

Founded in 2001, Blitz is a leading provider of specialist rigging and structural equipment for the film, television and live events industries. The business has more than doubled in size since partnering with Production Park in 2022, with BGF’s investment set to support its continued growth, expansion into adjacent markets and further strategic M&A.

James Foster, Partner in Shoosmiths’ Corporate team, said: “Film, television and entertainment is an established area of expertise for Shoosmiths, and this transaction builds on our strong track record in the sector. Having advised clients including Blitz Hire, Production Park [and Hive Media Control], we understand the opportunities and challenges businesses in this market face. Blitz has achieved impressive growth in recent years, and BGF’s investment marks an exciting next step for the business. It was great to bring our sector knowledge and expertise from across the firm together to support the investors through to a successful completion.”

Sam Skipper, CEO at Blitz Hire, said: “I’m incredibly proud of what our team has built and the growth we’ve achieved while maintaining the personal service our customers value. BGF shares our ambition and long-term outlook, making them a strong partner for Blitz’s next chapter. I’d also like to thank the Shoosmiths team for their advice and support throughout the transaction and for helping us successfully reach this important milestone.”

The Shoosmiths team comprised Corporate Partner James Foster, Legal Directors Natalie Redfern and Marcus-Adam Tuck, and Associates Amy Walton, Emily Egan and Arvind Paramiswaran; Banking Partner Charlotte Thomas, Senior Associate Jonny Adamson and Associate Georgia Barrick; Real Estate Partner James Speed; Employment Principal Associate Alex Bevan; and Tax Senior Associate Carly Cutler and Principal Associate Caroline Airey.
