Shoosmiths has advised the management team of Labyrinth Laboratories Holding Limited (Labyrinth), one of the UK's leading dental laboratory groups, on a strategic partnership Ethos Partners LLP (Ethos). The transaction completed on 20 August 2026 and will support the next phase of growth for the business.

Published: 27 August 2026

Headquartered in Birmingham, Labyrinth is the fourth largest full-service dental laboratory in the UK, serving more than 2,000 dentists nationwide across the NHS and private sectors. The business has developed a strong reputation for quality, service and innovation, supported by its digitally enabled manufacturing platform and adoption of technologies including intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM and 3D printing.

The partnership will support the continued growth of the business, with founders Michael Coldicott, Kuldip Bhandal and Jeffrey Rabone continuing to lead the company and drive its strategic vision. Labyrinth will be chaired by Zak Smith, who joined the board in early 2025 to support the group’s growth strategy. Zak has previously scaled and been involved in the sale of two independent dental chains and brings deep sector experience, strategic insight and an extensive network to the business.

The Shoosmiths team was led by Partner David Meisel with support from Partner Alison Chivers, Legal Director Natalia Tombs, Senior Associate Hugh White and Associate Sarah Palmer.

David Meisel, Partner at Shoosmiths, said:

"It was a pleasure to support the management team on this important transaction. Labyrinth has built an impressive business with a strong reputation across the sector, and this partnership provides an exciting platform for future growth and innovation."

Zak Smith, Chair of Labyrinth Dental, said:

"We're delighted to be embarking on this next chapter with Ethos. We'd like to thank the Shoosmiths team for their support throughout the process, providing practical and commercial advice that helped us achieve a successful outcome."
