Ed specialises in ECM and Public M&A matters, advising a diverse client base spanning public companies, boards, investment banks and investors. He arrives at the firm with 14 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer and was previously at Osborne Clarke.
Ed brings to Shoosmiths a high-quality mid-market ECM practice, with cross-sectoral experience. He has a particular focus on areas including technology, financial services, healthcare and energy transition, which aligns with Shoosmiths’ key sectors, including Financial Services, Healthcare and Technology. He has advised on complex restructurings and cross-border deals, AIM IPOs and secondary fundraisings, as well as strategic transactions.
Ben Turner, Head of Shoosmiths’ national Corporate team, said: "We're thrilled to welcome Ed to the team. His strong track record supporting clients on ECM and public M&A transactions makes him a key addition to our full-service corporate offering. Ed’s recruitment provides additional bench strength to complement our dynamic, award winning ECM practice."
Ed Nisbet said: “I’m delighted to be joining Shoosmiths’ Corporate team at a time of strong momentum for the practice. The firm has developed a high-quality M&A platform and has clear ambition to further develop its ECM and Public M&A offering.
I look forward to playing an integral role in that growth. With UK equity capital markets activity continuing to build, there is a significant opportunity to expand the firm’s public markets capability alongside its existing M&A strengths and support clients in accessing capital and executing their growth strategies.”
Ed is ranked in Chambers and Legal 500 and he was named as a Star Associate in the most recent edition of Chambers for his work on AIM.
Shoosmiths continues strong growth in London, adding 20 partners since April 2025, including IP lawyer France Delord, private equity lawyers Alison Chivers and Tim Nye and technology lawyer Sarah Reynolds. These appointments deepen capabilities across Shoosmiths’ three core practices in Corporate, Litigation and Real Estate and underline the firm’s strength in key sectors.
