Shoosmiths is pleased to announce the arrival of Richard Lomax as a Real Estate Investment Partner, strengthening the firm’s core Real Estate practice and bolstering its institutional capabilities.

Published: 8 September 2026

Richard joins from DWF and brings over 20 years’ worth of experience advising clients on investment acquisitions and sales, development and ongoing asset management.

Richard specialises in advising on high value investment and portfolio transactions, managing full lifecycle assets and coordinating national delivery. His client base includes institutional investment funds, major corporate occupiers, commercial property organisations and private equity firms. Richard is Chambers-ranked for Real Estate.

Joe Mazzucca, Partner and Head of Shoosmiths’ Real Estate Division, said: “Richard is an accomplished real estate investment lawyer whose depth of experience, strong client base and proven, innovative leadership style make him an excellent addition to the firm. His track-record leading on high value, multi-discipline investment transactions enhances our ability to support institutional clients on their most complex matters and bolsters our delivery capabilities across the UK and more widely – both of which are key to our 2030 strategy. We’re thrilled to welcome him on board.”

Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “I’m delighted to be joining Shoosmiths. The firm’s ambition to grow its real estate investment offering, combined with its collaborative culture, makes it a strong and exciting proposition. I look forward to building on this momentum and helping shape the future of the Real Estate team.”

Richard’s appointment follows the recent arrival of Real Estate Investment Partner Charlotte Ward, who also joined from DWF, and continues Shoosmiths’ strategic investment in its Real Estate pillar, building depth in key areas as the firm focuses on higher-value, more complex matters. Further recent additions include Head of Planning Sarah Fitzpatrick, Construction Disputes Lawyer Peter Stockill, Commercial Real Estate Partners Simon Collis, Andrew Miles, and Jas Sahotay and Housebuilding Specialist Steven Plummer, alongside the promotions of Planning Lawyer Matt Nixon to Partner in London and Construction Lawyer Christine Burrows in Leeds.
