Applications are now open for UK charities to apply for grants of up to £50,000 through the latest Shoosmiths Foundation funding round, supporting projects that widen access to legal and business services careers for underrepresented groups.

The funding will support initiatives across the UK that focus on creating pathways into the profession, strengthening support networks and tackling barriers to opportunity. UK-registered charities of all sizes can apply until 30 September 2026.
The Foundation is seeking projects that improve access to higher education and careers, strengthen support for underrepresented groups and deliver measurable impact in widening access to legal and business services professions.
Max Finney, Chair of the Shoosmiths Foundation Grants Committee, said:
“We believe that a stronger legal profession starts with wider access, and with giving talented people from every background the chance to succeed.
We're looking to support organisations that are removing barriers and creating real pathways into the profession, living up to our values and our commitment to standing up for what matters.”
Since 2021, the Shoosmiths Foundation has awarded nearly £300,000 to 6 charities that advance a net zero UK, address social mobility and improve access to justice.
Previous recipients include End Youth Homelessness (now EveryYouth), Street League, Jericho, The Chancery Lane Project, Energy Sparks and Inside Justice, supporting initiatives ranging from employability and skills development to access to justice and sustainability. While previous funding rounds supported a broader range of social and environmental priorities, this latest round takes a more targeted approach, focusing on widening access to the legal profession and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups.
