Shoosmiths is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Miles as a partner in London, as the firm builds out its core Real Estate practice.
Published: 11 May 2026
Andrew joins from Steptoe International (UK) LLP, bringing with him extensive experience across commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition and disposal of investment properties, the full life cycle of development projects, and landlord and tenant estate management. He has previously advised key stakeholders on the acquisition, development, letting, and sale of prime London office and retail space, adding to the firm’s strong sector offering. Andrew arrives as the third partner in the team joining from Steptoe, following the arrival of partners Jasvinder Sahotay and Simon Collis, further strengthening the firm’s core real estate practice and its work across property finance and management.
Andrew has acted for a broad client base, ranging from investors and developers to pension funds, institutional landlords, large scale tenants, family offices and charities. He will collaborate closely with the firm’s specialist teams across real estate, including construction and planning, as well as banking and corporate, to deliver the best outcomes for clients. His prior work across data centres and real estate acquisitions for technology businesses further complements Shoosmiths’ recent investment in the sector.
Joe Mazzucca, Head of Shoosmiths’ Real Estate Division, said: “Andrew is an excellent addition to our London real estate team. He brings a strong track record on high-value transactions, a high-quality client base and a proactive, relationship-focused approach to business development. His arrival enhances our ability to support clients in the real estate sector, one of Shoosmiths’ three core pillars, and reflects our continued investment to deliver on the firm’s ambitious 2030 growth strategy.”
Andrew Miles commented: “I’m excited to join Shoosmiths’ market-leading Commercial Real Estate practice as it continues to grow its sector offering. The firm has built a strong platform handling complex transactions, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s collaborative culture and relationship-driven approach to its client work.”
Andrew’s hire continues strong momentum across Shoosmiths’ Real Estate pillar, building depth in key areas as the firm focuses on higher-value, more complex matters. He follows several recent partner appointments in addition to commercial real estate partners Sahotay and Collins, including Head of Planning Sarah Fitzpatrick, construction lawyer Peter Stockill, real estate finance lawyer James Salford, as well as Christine Burrows and Matt Nixon’s promotions to partner in construction and planning, respectively. The firm expects to make further partner hires across its Real Estate team in the coming months as it continues to invest in priority areas for growth.
Shoosmiths continues to see strong growth in London, adding 16 partners since April 2025, including M&A partner Ed Nisbet, IP lawyer France Delord, PE lawyers Alison Chivers and Tim Nye and technology lawyer Sarah Reynolds. These appointments deepen capabilities across Shoosmiths’ three core practices in Corporate, Litigation and Real Estate and underline the firm’s strength in key sectors.
