A new model for Ford dealers?

It’s not surprising that Ford is holding conversations with its dealers about their future role in the new car sales process.

Ford will want to see how its dealer network might be re-shaped and re-badged for the era of direct sales, experiential showrooms, and connected cars that's just around the corner.

Just how fast Ford can accelerate towards this new era will, to a large extent, depend on what it says in its dealer agreements. If those agreements don't anticipate a direct sales model or the sharing of data about cars and their drivers, Ford might be in for a bumpy ride.
