Company director disqualification proceedings against the founder/former chief executive and seven trustees of Kids Company have finally reached court.
Whatever the outcome of the nine-week hearing, and of the Charity Commission's inquiry to conclude following the case, more than ever it is important to reassure those who give freely of their time as charity trustees that they should not face censure so along as they make decisions that a reasonable trustee body could make in the circumstances, acting in good faith, making sure that they are sufficiently well informed and taking any advice needed. I suspect we will hear more in the coming weeks of the need for trustee boards to challenge, as well as to support, their staff.
