D&I Strategy - adding value to the brand

Years to build, yet moments to destroy. Various events over the past few years show how quickly a brand can be undermined when discrimination allegations are raised and become public knowledge. The situation often spirals out of control and leads to decisions that have knock-on consequences.

In the case of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, the apparent decision to try and wipe the slate clean by cutting ties with everyone who was associated with the business was dealt a blow when the Employment Tribunal determined that former head coach Andrew Gale was unfairly dismissed during the process.

A diversity and inclusion strategy with appropriate training for staff and management might not have been enough to solve all of the problems, but the fallout would certainly have been less severe.

“Do the right thing first time” has never been a better idea.
