Since 2010 (has it really been that long?!) GPs have been issuing fit notes rather than sick notes to those who are unfit for work or who may need adjustments to allow them to return to work.
From July 2022 the number of medical practitioners who can issue a fit note has increased and the government has updated its guidance accordingly.
There are many myths and misunderstandings about the fit note, so it is well worth a read.
