Shoosmiths advises ReproTech on investment in IMT Matcher

Law firm Shoosmiths has advised ReproTech, an investee company of US private equity firm Red Barn Equity Partners LLC (Red Barn), on its investment into IMT Matcher, a global leader in fertility technology.

IMT Matcher is known for developing the world’s first electronic witnessing system over 20 years ago. Its specialised software protects against risks of error in IVF treatment and streamlines fertility centre processes.

ReproTech, based in Delaware, provides cryostorage technology solutions, off-site storage, and logistics services. The company partners with fertility clinics, hospital systems, donor banks, and andrology laboratories across North America to offer secure storage for reproductive tissues.

This investment enhances ReproTech’s leadership in cryostorage by integrating IMT Matcher’s expertise and technology with ReproTech’s products, creating a comprehensive platform for patients and clinics to document every step of the IVF process.

The Shoosmiths team, led by private equity partner James Foster, guided Red Barn and ReproTech through all stages of the process - including a UK competitive auction. This is ReproTech’s first deal in the UK. Shoosmiths is at the forefront of international life science transactions, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to advancing the sector.

IMT Matcher, founded in 2005, has built a strong reputation for its product quality, innovation, and customer service. Following the investment, Matcher’s operations will continue from its UK headquarters.
