Shoosmiths scores two panel reappointments with Bellway and Taylor Wimpey

Shoosmiths has been reappointed to the legal panels of both Bellway and Taylor Wimpey, reinforcing the law firm’s position as a leading adviser in the UK living sector.

Bellway is a long-standing client of the firm. Shoosmiths previously advised on its acquisition of a development site in Glenrothes, Fife, as part of a 850-home regeneration scheme.

The firm also supported Bellway on a significant development in Lymm, which will deliver over 100 new homes in its second phase, including affordable housing. Notably, the project involved providing land to the NHS for the construction of a new medical centre.

The firm was first appointed to Taylor Wimpey’s legal panel in January 2022 and has since provided full-service legal support across a range of matters, including real estate, planning, strategic land and construction.

Kathryn Jump, partner and co-head of Shoosmiths’ living sector, said:

“We’re proud to have been reappointed to the panels of two major housebuilders, reflecting Shoosmiths’ continued commitment to the UK’s living sector – working in partnership with clients to create new communities and deliver much-needed housing nationwide.

“The living sector is rapidly evolving, shaped by new legislation, policy reform, and shifting market conditions. Our experts are helping clients navigate this landscape, while working closely with their teams and industry partners to identify practical solutions that accelerate housing delivery. This adaptability, sector expertise, and sense of purpose were recognised at the recent RESI Awards, where we were named Residential Legal Team of the Year.

“We look forward to continuing to support Bellway, Taylor Wimpey and our other living sector clients in delivering their ambitions and boosting residential provision across the UK.”

Dale Armstrong, group legal director at Bellway, said:

“It’s imperative that we are advised by the most capable legal advisers as we work towards our commitment to developing thriving neighbourhoods that put our customers’ needs first. We’re excited to be working with all our partners and look forward to what’s next in store for our business.”

Lee Bishop, Taylor Wimpey divisional chair, North West and Yorkshire, and group managing director of strategic land, said:

“Our teams at Taylor Wimpey are driven by a mission to build exceptional homes and vibrant communities, creating lasting value for all our buyers. The refreshed legal panel will allow us to keep successfully delivering our services and managing our operations.”
