Shoosmiths signs Mindful Business Charter, committing to working practices which support mental health and wellbeing

Shoosmiths has signed the Mindful Business Charter, joining a wide range of businesses and law firms in a collective commitment to address the avoidable stresses in our working practices to promote healthier and more effective ways of working.

The charter brings organisations’ in-house legal teams and their legal services providers together to reach a shared agenda for mental health wellbeing.

Along with other new signatories, Shoosmiths will participate in a virtual event to mark the occasion, which will also be an opportunity to share ideas with each other, as well as with existing supporters of the charter.

Shoosmiths HR Director Louise Hadland said: “We’re delighted to become a signatory of the Mindful Business Charter today, following several months of embedding commitments into the firm. When we first started talking about what mindful business looked like for Shoosmiths, we didn’t know that the world would change as much as it has. What we do know is that the need to do this is now more imperative than ever. We look forward to being part of this group as we all face new challenges and collectively ensure that respect and wellbeing underpin all that we do.”

The charter has the support of mental health charity Mind, the City Mental Health Alliance, the International Bar Association, the Law Societies of England and Wales and of Scotland, LawCare and the Solicitors Regulatory Authority.
