Russ has also advised on a number of confidential solvent restructurings and refinancings for major financial institutions.
National head of Shoosmiths’ CR&A department James Keates said: “Russ not only brings a deep technical expertise in restructuring and insolvency, but also a proven ability to build strong client relationships in sectors like banking and private equity which are key to the firm’s 2030 growth strategy. We are committed to expanding our footprint in Birmingham and across the UK and I am confident that Russ will be a valuable asset to the team who will help us achieve this goal.”
Commenting on his appointment, Russ said: “Shoosmiths’ excellent reputation in the UK’s advisory and restructuring sector paired with the collaborative culture provide me with the perfect platform for the next stage of my career. I see huge potential to build on the firm’s existing client relationships and tap into new markets as the practice continues to expand. I look forward to delivering impactful, scalable solutions alongside this impeccable team.”
Shoosmiths’ CR&A team has acted on more retail CVAs than any other law firm over the last five years and is now widely known in the restructuring community as the go-to law firm for CVAs and Restructuring Plans, winning roles on a number of large, well-known businesses going through restructuring processes.
