Shoosmiths secured a successful win at the 2025 Self-Driving Industry Awards for the firm’s work across the connected and automated mobility (CAM) ecosystem. Underpinned by the firm’s deep and active engagement with the world’s most exciting mobility businesses and most influential industry leaders, the Shoosmiths mobility team has been recognised for its expertise which spans regulatory advice, contract advisory, and thought leadership.

The firm sits at the forefront of legal innovation in the mobility and self-driving vehicle sectors and has built one of the UK’s most active legal teams in the future mobility space, with an entire sector within Shoosmiths devoted to the industry.

The firm is directly involved in shaping the UK’s regulatory framework for automated vehicles (AVs) holding positions on TechUK’s Self-Driving Vehicle Working Group, SMMT’s Self-Driving Vehicle Working Group and The UK Automotive Council CAM Group.

Having advised on some of the world’s most advanced AV projects, Shoosmiths lawyers have supported the deployment of AVs across the UK, continental Europe, and the Middle East – acting for global car manufacturers, blue chip technology providers, and some of the most exciting businesses in the mobility sector.

In line with the overarching ambitions of the firm, the Mobility team continues to look at ahead and anticipate the needs of the sector’s biggest players, particularly around developments in AI and sustainability. The firm remains uniquely positioned to support automotive and mobility businesses at every stage of their product journeys — from strategy and procurement, deployment, governance, and more. This effort is focused even further by our commitment to delivering exceptional legal services in a way that is responsible, inclusive, and future-focused.

Cars of the Future editor, Neil Kennett, on behalf of the 2025 Self-Driving Industry Awards judging panel, said: “Currently advising on multiple aspects of AV Act secondary legislation – from marketing rules and safety principles to data-sharing frameworks – we were delighted to present our 2025 Legal Award to Shoosmiths. Working with Tech UK, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the UK Automotive Council, and clients internationally, they continue to play a central role in shaping the self-driving legal landscape.”

Ben Gardner, Partner in Shoosmiths’ Commercial Group, said: “Having supported a series of exciting international clients and AV projects in recent years, this is fantastic recognition for our mobility sector team.  In the UK, in particular, the self-driving industry is at an inflection point with advanced trials of AVs expected to take place in London next year.  As a firm, we are perfectly positioned to leverage our deep sector expertise and experience to advise on the many innovative and complex projects we are anticipating in the CAM space in the not too distant future.”
