The changing development agenda - North West

The north west sits high on the UK regional table for foreign investment, with numerous significant developments strengthening the region’s reputation as being one of the UK’s most progressive markets.

As we head further into the next decade, how a region fares is going to be determined more than ever by best-in-class public and private partnerships, by good leadership and through community engagement. The recent pandemic has highlighted the role of public realm and placemaking, design, community and neighbourhoods, with technology enabling a new level of digital facilitation and engagement. How will this impact be felt in the north west and how will the region’s development market respond?

Joint head of planning, Lisa Tye, recently chaired a panel debate, on behalf of Movers & Shakers, to discuss the specific focal points for the north west, as well as the opportunities and the challenges facing the region in relation to future development and growth. Lisa was joined on the panel by:

  • Louise Wyman - Strategic Director of Growth & Development, Manchester City Council
  • Graeme Scott - Executive Director – Development, Trafford Housing Trust
  • Phil Mayall- Regional Director, North West, Muse Developments
