Shoosmiths attends 2018 Women in Business Awards

Shoosmiths recently attended the 2018 Women in Business Awards, a campaign by the Business Magazine which celebrates, encourages and inspires women in business throughout the Thames Valley.

The event was held at Oakley Hall in Basingstoke with guest speaker Chris Stylianou chief operating officer for Sky UK and Ireland giving an insight into his company’s journey towards gender parity.

Shoosmiths was a finalist in the Enlightened Employer category, where judges were looking for companies of any size that have shown exceptional commitment to gender equality in the workplace thereby creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture which enables women to excel.

Nina Smith, corporate senior associate, was a finalist of the Rising Star category which recognises emerging talent. This award was open to women who have not only already made a mark in business, but are also ‘women to watch’ in terms of future contribution.

Sarah Winship, Shoosmiths diversity, inclusion and wellbeing manager commented:

It was wonderful to have our work on gender equality recognised at the Women and Business Awards and also to share the evening with other organisations who are similarly committed to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces.’o text in field.
