Shoosmiths joins an afternoon with Solent Mind event

Solent Mind held its first Corporate Partner event on 17 March 2021 to give new and existing partners a better understanding of the charity.

Forty participants from twenty organisations joined the virtual meeting to hear from a wide range of speakers. Kevin Gardner, CEO of Solent Mind, led the first session with an overview of the work that Solent Mind carries out and some statistics on the effect of the pandemic on mental health.

Attendees also heard from Rob Eamey who shared his personal mental health journey, Emily Frankum who gave an insight into the work of her primary employment team and Emma Fernandes who shared the impact that fundraising has on the charity.

The guest speaker for the afternoon was Nicola Ellen, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Shoosmiths. Shoosmiths has been a corporate partner to Solent Mind for three years and has not only raised and donated a significant amount of money but also provided pro bono advice which enabled Solent Mind to launch its wellbeing App. Nicola explained why CR is so important to Shoosmiths, described some of the fundraising staff had taken part in and the impact Solent Mind has had on staff wellbeing through training and their involvement in panel discussions.

The afternoon finished with an open discussion about fundraising ideas for 2021.
