Shoosmiths selects its 2020/2021 charity partners

With so many sectors struggling at the moment, and none more so than the charity sector we have been able to provide some reassurance by promptly selecting our 2020/2021 charity partners.

Eight locations have continued their partnerships (*) and mental wellbeing remains a particular focus. We will also be finding ways to assist local Covid-19 needs of other charities so we can provide some support in this time of great need.

Belfast: Aware NI - the depression charity for Northern Ireland and the only charity working exclusively for people with depression and bipolar disorder.

Birmingham: Guide Dogs* - continuing to support until September 2020. The charity provides life-changing services to the 360,000 people who are registered blind, or partially sighted, and the two million people in the UK living with sight loss.

Edinburgh: Teenage Cancer Trust - dedicated to providing young people with cancer specialised nursing care and support.

Leeds: Candlelighters*– brings light and hope to the families of children suffering from cancer.

London: The Change Foundation and specifically its Street Elite Programme* - this programme engages with young people on the edges of gangs and crime across London helping them from NEET (not in education, employment or training) into work, apprenticeships, training or education opportunities.

Manchester: Prevent Breast Cancer* – the only UK breast cancer charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing the disease for future generations.

Milton Keynes: MK Community Foundation’s Covid 19 MK Emergency Response Appeal - to support local community groups who are most affected and vulnerable at this time.

Northampton: Northampton and District Mind* - offers support to anyone who faces mental health challenges including self-improvement courses, one to one support, social groups, support into employment and mental health navigators.

Nottingham: Improving Lives* - works in partnership with many services to support Nottingham City adult residents with complex health and social needs to manage the challenges they face more effectively.

Solent: Solent Mind* - provides a range of services to support people with mental health problems across the Southern Region.

Thames Valley: No5* - provides listening and counselling support to 11- 25 year olds living, working or studying in Reading.
