Shoosmiths supports Business in the Community's National Business Response Network Business Campaign

The National Business Response Network (NRBN) was established by Business in the Community (BITC) at the onset of the Covid-19 crisis with the aim of matching charities in need of support with organisations able to provide assistance.

As a BITC member, we are delighted to support #NBRN. Together we are working hard to get business resources to the right place at the right time.

As Amanda Mackenzie, Chief Executive, Business in the Community explains ‘Communities across the UK are locked into a battle against COVID-19 this winter. The contributions made by businesses through our National Business Response Network have been making a huge difference -bringing the might of businesses to the doorsteps of our local communities.

Although the coming months mean new, harsher challenges we know what communities need and business can help. Business is back in the community and together we can make sure the right support at the right time gets to where it is needed most.’

Demand for help from people affected by Covid-19 is outstripping supply. The NRBN desperately needs businesses to help with three key needs:

• Food and clothes
• Digital skills and technology
• Care essentials

During 2020 Shoosmiths has provided financial and in-kind support to the NBRN on a number of occasions including:

• Stationery materials to St Margaret Ward School, Access Generation and Sandwell Transition, Education Partnership Services (STEPS);
• Delivery of items by staff for young adults and families on behalf of Birmingham Children’s Trust;
• Donations to Black Country Food Bank, Whitley Community Development Association, Narthex, Black Country Women’s Aid, SIFA Fireside, the Birmingham Methodist District’s Adavu Project and Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank.

We will continue to provide support and promote this important resource in the hope that urgent calls for help by the third sector can be met by organisations.
