Volunteers from the Leeds office join The Principle Trust Children’s Charity in their Event - "Our Big Clean Day”

On 26 February 2024, four volunteers from our Leeds office travelled to Marton Mere, Haven Holiday Park, in Blackpool to participate in The Principle Trust Children’s Charity event – "Our Big Clean Day".

The aim of this event was to prepare the charity’s respite homes, making them fresh and welcoming for families who will be staying in them this holiday season.

The Principle Trust is a Yorkshire-based charity that supports underprivileged, disadvantaged, and disabled children and their families. Its mission is to give these children and families the opportunity to enjoy a much-needed break in one of the charity’s six beautiful holiday homes. Since the charity was founded in 2011, they have provided free holidays for over 5,000 underprivileged, disadvantaged, and disabled children from across the region.

The volunteers deep cleaned one of the charity’s respite homes, including scrubbing ovens, mopping floors, and even cleaning the ceiling! Once the home was spotless, the team outfitted the kitchen with new cooking utensils and stocked the bedrooms with fresh linens - fully preparing the home for the upcoming season. Despite the demanding work, the team maintained high morale, thanks in part to a meal deal lunch accompanied by donuts.

The event was a huge success with all the charity’s respite homes now thoroughly cleaned and ready to be used for the season ahead, to provide children and families with the time and means to make lasting memories.

Shoosmiths would like to say a huge thank you to the team at The Principle Trust for organising the day and for hosting our volunteers. We would also like to give a special thanks to all our volunteers who worked hard on the day to get the respite homes looking spick and span. The effort will enable The Principle Trust to keep offering their amazing services to those who need it most.
