Clare is a professional support lawyer (PSL) in Shoosmiths’ Corporate Division, based in the Solent office. She is responsible for producing and maintaining the team’s standard form documentation and plays a key role in the automation of the firm’s corporate precedents. Clare produces legal know how for internal updates, provides support to legal advisers on complex legal queries, and assists in delivering training on corporate law.

Clare studied law at the University of Liverpool and the LPC at the College of Law in Chester. She qualified as a solicitor in 2002 with Blake Lapthorn, where she worked as a corporate lawyer advising on acquisitions, disposals and group reorganisations. She joined Shoosmiths in 2005, continuing to advise on a wide range of corporate transactions and undertook a four-month client secondment, gaining valuable insight into in-house legal operations and enhancing her ability to deliver client-focused legal support.

After a career break from 2008 to 2017 to care for her family, Clare returned to legal practice as a shared Legal Officer for Havant Borough Council and East Hampshire District Council, specialising in commercial contracts and public sector compliance.

Clare re-joined Shoosmiths in 2019, bringing her broad experience in both in-house and private practice to support the development of corporate legal know-how and precedent materials.
