Emma is a Principal Associate in the Corporate team based in the Solent office. She advises on a wide range of corporate matters including acquisitions and disposals, private equity transactions, group reorganisations, investments, corporate governance and compliance issues.
Emma works with a variety of clients including private equity investors, private companies, management teams and owner managed businesses. Her experience spans a wide variety of sectors and, in particular, she has over a decade of experience working on transactions in the education sector.
Previous transactions include advising:
- Dukes Education on various acquisitions;
- Cavendish Education on various acquisitions;
- Five Arrows Principal Investments III and Five Arrows Capital Partners on the sale of the Texthelp Group to Five Arrows Principal Investments and Five Arrows Long Term Fund backed n2y, resulting in a merger of n2y and Texthelp to form Everway;
- main market listed Ten Entertainment Group plc, one of the UK’s largest ten-pin bowling operators, on the £287 million takeover by US private equity firm Trive Capital Partners LP; and
- on the sale of Hamleys, the famous toy retailer, to Reliance Industries in a deal worth nearly £70 million. Emma also worked on the previous sale of the group in 2015 to Chinese footwear group C.banner International.
Emma studied law at the University of Reading before completing the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford. She joined Shoosmiths as a Trainee in 2011 and qualified into the Corporate team in September 2013. She was awarded the 'Young Dealmaker of the Year' award at the Solent Deals Awards 2019.
