John is a projects lawyer with over 10 years experience in the Irish Energy sector advising on a range of renewable technologies including onshore wind, solar, hydro and bioenergy. His clients include a number of international developers as well as equity and debt funders. Recent project experience includes:

•Acting for a consortium in the development and construction of a 3MW AD Plant in County Antrim with funding of £27m.

•Advising majority shareholder in the disposal of a 50MW wind farm in County Tyrone for consideration of £87m.

•Advising a large scale wind farm operator in respect of the impact of I-SEM and necessary amendments to PPAs.

•Advising a UK based peer to peer lender in respect of the debt funding of a distributed wind portfolio (9 turbines).

•Acting on behalf of a counterparty in the negotiation of a complex framework agreement for PPAs in connection with a large portfolio of renewable energy projects.

•Advising an international developer in the site assembly of a portfolio of on shore wind farms (circa 80MW).

•Acting for an investment fund in the development and construction of circa 12 AD Projects in Northern Ireland and GB.

John is a regular speaker at industry events including the 2019 Irish Bioenergy Association Conference at Croke Park, Dublin. He also provides specialised in-house training to a number of financial institutions in the funding of renewable energy projects. John is qualified to practice in both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
