Mike Vallance is a newly qualified lawyer in the Privacy and Data team advising multinational companies on global privacy compliance.

His experience to date includes:

  • advising on a global data breach of a telecommunications and manufacturing company requiring breach notification in over 20 jurisdictions;
  • supporting analysis of more than 10 destination jurisdictions as part of a Transfer Risk Assessment;
  • completing a data mapping project for an international holiday resorts company reviewing all aspects of global privacy compliance covering sites in UK, Europe, US and Japan;
  • conducting a review of vendor contracts for international transfer mechanisms and negotiating amendments to comply with Standard Contractual Clauses requirements; and
  • advising on documents to be disclosed as part of a data subject access request for an outsourcing technology company.

Mike started at Shoosmiths in September 2020 as a trainee; he completed nine months in Privacy and Data as well as seats in Corporate, Employment and Business Crime. He qualified as a solicitor in September 2022.
